Spicy Hot Cocoa

This maybe my favorite new hot chocolate recipe! The cinnamon and chili powder compliment the dark chocolate beautifully! To warm up on a cool spring evening, I’ll cut the ingredients and make a personal cup using my Breville Espresso machine. The decorated ‘Day of the Dead’ marshmallows were made with Wilton’s Edible Markers. They are the perfect touch of sweetness! This recipe is perfect for viewing of Disney’s newest movie “Coco“!

Spicy Hot Cocoa

  • Servings: 4 (8oz cups)
  • Print

Ingredients

4 cups milk (I use a combination of milk and heavy cream for creamy consistency)

8 Tbsp Dark Chocolate syrup (torani)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp chili powder

¼ tsp nutmeg

Directions

Heat milk in medium saucepan over medium heat, stir frequently.

Add remaining ingredients once milk is warm, almost simmering. Continue to stir on low heat, until chocolate and other ingredients have combined.

Pour drinks into mugs and serve with marshmallows or whipped cream sprinkled with cinnamon.

Enjoy!! Hope you enjoy this spicy treat!
