Ka-Chow!!
‘Cars’ is an adorable movie all about a race car living in the fast lane. He gets stranded in a dusty ol’ town called Radiator Springs. There he meets some quirky characters and learns that there’s more to life than fame and fortune.
We don’t usually start our Movie Night at breakfast, but I couldn’t resist making Luigi’s tower of chocolate tires; aka DONUTS. They kids had more fun building with them than they did eating them.
For dinner, I channeled Flo and went with the retro Diner theme. Our Blue Plate Special included homemade meat loaf, mashed potatoes, and roasted broccoli. I served the meal on vintage Fire King Dinner plates, that have been handed down in our family, for a more authentic feel. The dessert special is one of our favorite Summer treats, Strawberry Black Bottom Pie! It’s like a chocolate covered strawberry cheesecake, but without spending hours in the kitchen making it.
Do you have a Drive-In theater around you? The closest one to us is over an hour away, which stinks. So, Brandon and I moved around the living room furniture and made a make shift Drive-In for the kids. They rolled their Lightening McQueen and Cruz Ride-on Push Cars right in front of the tv. The concessions included popcorn and their favorite candies. They loved it! Of course, they didn’t sit still for very long and were zoooooming all over the living room. They almost go as fast as Lightening himself!
We’ve tried to branch out of the world of Princesses since our son was born. ‘Cars’ didn’t disappoint! This classic will be loved by both of our kids for years to come. Another wonderful movie for the whole family to enjoy!
We had such a magical evening! Thanks for following along! I would love to know how you added magic to your ‘Cars’ Movie Night! Comment below or tag @amagicalkingdomcalledhome on Facebook or Instagram to share!
