The Nightmare Before Christmas

Can you believe it’s the 25th anniversary of this movie? I was just 6 years old at the time and remember how frightened I was. Maybe it was the Halloween characters, maybe it was the clay animation. So we changed it up a bit this week. The kids enjoyed our movie night treats and Brandon and I rewatched this classic after the kids went to sleep. I loved the music and the love story between Jack and Sally. I’ll probably wait another few years to watch it again though. I love Disney Villians, but Halloween stuff isn’t really my thing. At least I could cross it off our movie check list.

Nightmare Before Christmas Snacks

I live vicariously thru the Disney Parks blog and my many friends that visit Disney. I have loved seeing everyone’s amazing posts from Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. There was a few of them that I thought I could replicate for a spooky movie night.

My kids loved the Oogie Boogie snack! I used a strawberry Jell-O cup, green whipped cream for Oogie Boogie, black icing for his spooky face, and sour gummies to complete the look.

I also made a spooky nacho snack. The black bean tortilla chips were an easy way to make it seem more haunted. The kids were able to top it with guacamole and queso, instead of the spicy buffalo chicken and cheese that we had.

Now, I wasn’t sure I was going to post our dinner creation. But good or bad, I thought I would show you. Ha! It was delicious! But… it was so weird looking that I could barely eat it. I present to you… Spooky Pumpkin Pasta.

It’s made with squid ink pasta and my pumpkin pasta sauce. The pasta has NO taste or texture difference than regular pasta. It was just the look of it that creeped me out. It didn’t help that I usually use Angel Hair pasta for all of my dishes, so the thickness thru it off. It really did achieve a creepy look though! If you want to plan a Halloween party, you really should include this pasta!

This wasn’t a stellar movie night review, but I hope you can use some of these crazy ideas for your movie night. Thank you so much for checking it out and following along! It seems like people either LOVE or skip this movie. Which one are you?

Till next time, Esther
