Easy Sugar Cookie Recipe

If your looking for a NO-chill cookie dough that stays its shape, this is the recipe for you! It’s been tried and true for years! Easy enough for my husband and daughter to do while I’m running errands. You might want to double the recipe though, because you will want to eat them all! For the icing, we use the recipe off of the Wilton’s Meringue Powder container. It’s simple and easy to use. I hope this easy recipe takes some of the stress away from the holiday season! Merry Christmas!

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2-1 tsp almond extract

1 egg

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

3 cups flour

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°. Cream butter and sugar together in mixer bowl until smooth. Beat in egg and extracts.

In separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly add to wet ingredients. The dough will be very stiff. Finish kneading dough by hand.

Divide into smaller batches, roll out onto a floured surface about 1/4″ thick. Cover cookie sheet with parchment paper and cut dough with cookie cutters as desired.

Bake for 6-8 minutes. Let cool on cookie sheet for 5 mins, then transfer to a cooling rack. Once cooled, decorate as desired.
